Science Sharing Session
This year's science sharing theme is grocery store science--labs, experiments, and demos with materials that can all be found at your local grocery store. Bring your own best lab or demo and we'll bring materials to make your own nonparticle beverage, strawberry DNA extraction, cell phone microscopes and more. Come share your demo(s) and/or experience others.

Chemical Reaction in Your Mouth (shared by Liz McMillan - stolen from Matt Miller (SDSU))
  • Baking Soda
  • Citric Acid (look in the canning or spices section)
  • Powdered Drink Mix for flavor
  • Powdered Sugar (optional)
Mix in equal portions (more sugar is helps flavor). Have students use a craft stick to pour a SMALL amount on their tongue... the liquid activates the acid/base reaction.
